Gist of my address@ Legislature-parliament

The bosses are doing ‘politics’ now. They are in the race who will head the employers’ apex body. To show oneself more ‘pro-business’ candidate, they are in down ward race! A regressive competition to prove oneself who is more anti- working people, the one who can offer workers a meagre wage-rate!

I was planning to make a special note to address the legislature parliament. I had chosen issue as WAGE increment.

With bit poor preparation, I said- “today I will raise issue regarding public concern not political rhetoric.” I explain on Consumer Price Index (CPI) and soaring it’s height. Then I moved to where the working population in Nepal are standing!

I questioned- “if 1kg Onion costs NRs. 150, how can a worker survive with a daily wage of NRs 190?!”

I further reminded that the ongoing strike in Hetauda and other places was not caused by the trade unions but instigation of the puppet element of ill-intentioned employers.

“The unions want to continue dialogue and even they have collectively called off all protest program, why employers are showing reluctancy to sit in bargaining table? Why the Bosses are interested to prolong strike incidents, why they are opting signing a separate “deal” with some individual ignoring trade union centers? The deal which was neither in entire employers interest nor the expected one to the trade unions and the working people?!”I make my point- “Interestingly Rt. Honorable speaker, the man-days’ lost in Nepal, if we calculate through out the year, is not because of the strike by the trade unions. It is so far due to the strike launched by the various unit of employers! An interesting irony, Bosses and the political outfits are disturbing our economic life and with out hesitation we are blaming to the trade unions?!! Let correct our mindset- “the strikes are caused due to and only by the unions’. It’s not fit in our reality!

I mentioned a point how the employers are dealing now. “The bosses are doing ‘politics’ now. They are in the race who will head the employers’ apex body. To show oneself more ‘pro-business’ candidate, they are in down ward race! A regressive competition to prove oneself who is more anti- working people, the one who can offer workers a meager wage-rate!

I cautioned the house mentioning that- “like the children can’t wait, in similar way the word TOMORROW is not fit to working poor! Children they have right to fulfill their wish then and their, the working families’ stomach will remain empty immediately if the justice delay.

“Thus, through you Rt. Honorable speaker, I want to call upon the Govt of Nepal to fulfill trade unions’ demand by hiking wage now! Since we Legislature are here in this chair by the precious vote of working poor, let dare to raise our voice bit, in favor of our constituency- the working people, to increase their existing salary now!

The major trade unions in Nepal still expecting constructive dialogue. If the apex bodies of employers ignore this, none of us have right to blame trade unions for possible labour unrest.

To save our economy and the life of working class, once again Mr. Speaker I want to demand with the Govt. for immediate and necessary action. It will be too late if we fail to address workers issue now, by tomorrow either workers would have increased salary or there will be non-exhausted protest program in our world of work.

I here by further call upon the Govt. to maintain discipline in the world of work, for this increase workers” salary now!!!

Let me conclude thanking you Mr. Speakers allowing me to speak!

Thank you!!!
